This ground-up, five-story Sutton Square Townhouse is incredibly unique. It was built around a Louie Kahn-esque concrete cylinder, which acts as a central structural support for the home and encases a five-story stairwell. The stainless steel and glass staircase spirals up 5 stories inside the concrete cylinder. The concrete cylinder was poured into plexiglass form work to ensure a smooth appearance. Niches in the cylinder allowed for art work to be displayed along the walls of all five-stories.
The first floor is poured concrete with embedded lighting and large structural glass panels that allow natural light into the basement. The floor is heated throughout the entire home.
