This was a gut renovation in a historic landmark district. Much structural work was required in this project, with brick re-pointing, beam replacement and underpinning involved. The owners requested that as many of the old details remain as possible; such as the old pine flooring, existing staircases, beams, and even the creaky floors.
The real feat was integrating the new finishes with the old. A lot of attention was paid to every staircase landing, lots “old meeting new” throughout that required lots of detailing and consideration, along with a company that was able to “age” the new pine flooring to match the old.
The outcome is a charming house, with a lot of character.
